I agree with your idea (and Mary's comment) that narrowing down the field to look at specific diseases (maybe a specific family of disease that is affected in a unique way) would be a great way to frame your investigation. You'll need to do some broader research first, of course, to see what's out there, but that idea of focus is important. I also like that you're looking at adult stem cell research rather than just stem cell research in general. I think you're taking this very broad and difficult topic in the right direction!

This should be a really interesting topic. I was just studying this in my BIO class a few weeks ago. You could narrow it down by studying what different illnesses scientists think they could use adult stem cells to cure. You could also look and see what tests have already been done or which tests are in progress. Another way you could go with an essay is looking at the benefits of stem cell research over embryonic research or the other way around. There is a lot of information available so I don't think you will have an problems locating it (in the TCU library use the database: Exoanded Academic ASAP . . . this is primarily as science based database and should have lots of helpful articles) Good luck!

I think this is a really great start to your paper... it will be interesting to see what research you pull up from stem cell research. I know that it is a very controversial topic so there should be two really interesting sides that you can pull from this. Great job

This is such an interesting angle! You make so many valid points, and the websites you shared will definitely help defend them. I'll be looking forward to reading your piece.

I really like how you talked about how this will help with your paper. All the information you used is a great source of information. I think it points your ethnography in a good direction and shows why this topic is important to you.

I really liked your first choice of website. I agree with the fact that these kinds of students should attend a school dedicated to helping them learn with their abilities. I thought that was also really cool how they were being taught in such a way that a student would be able to attend Harvard. Very cool, might want to add that into your essay as well.

I agree that this sounds like a very interesting subculture. I think it's particularly unique because of it's association with the university. You might want to ask the volunteers or employees what they feel Kinderfrogs gains from being part of the TCU community, as opposed to if they were just a private school without any affiliations with a university.

This sounds like a really interesting subculture because of the type of people that this sort of volunteerism would require. I think that your paper will be really amazing since you hope to interview the volunteers. Perhaps you will be able to get some insight into why they volunteer, how it affects their lives, if it has changed them any way such as their perspective on life, and possibly if it has inspired them to do any other volunteer work or charitable work. I would just like to also say that if you really would like to volunteer there, don't let your inexperience stop you because you'll only gain experience by acting upon your interests and plus I think you would be awesome at it! :)
